Fish oil supplements may cause stroke
Remember those halcyon days of childhood, when your mother would thrice daily jam tablespoons of cod liver oil down your gullet?
Your strident protests, “You tryin’ to kill me, Ma, or what?’ invariably fell upon deaf ears.
As it turns out, even a stopped clock may be right from time to time.
In 2024, a multinational group of scientists published an article on the potential dangers of fish oil supplements. The research, in the prestigious British Medical Journal, was based upon more than four hundred thousand patients, who were followed for more than ten years. In healthy people between the ages of forty and sixty-nine, the scientists proved: Those who regularly supplement their diet with fish oil are more likely to develop irregular heartbeats (atrial fibrillation) and stroke.
